CHARLES GORCZYNSKI TANGO QUARTET

Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet is a leading North American contemporary tango ensemble. The quartet creates completely original and cutting-edge contemporary music that embraces modern tango composition, new music, chamber music, and elements of improvised music traditions. They are known for wildly visceral live performances, and have produced two highly acclaimed records: The Conservatory (2023), and Dead Stars (2025).

Pianist Alexander Woods is a versatile and collaborative musician whose work spans tango, chamber music, art song, contemporary repertoire, and jazz. As a tango pianist he performs with Orquesta Típica Kingfield and has worked with Exequiel Mantega and Pablo Jaurena. A Lecturer of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, he has served as staff pianist at the Borromeo Music Festival in Switzerland and has performed with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra and the Dakota Valley Symphony & Chorus. Violinist Devan Moran is a founding member of Twin Cities Tango Collective and Orquesta Típica Kingfield, and has studied tango with Guillermo Rubino (Diego Schissi Quinteto, Sur Del Sur). He served as lead violinist for the resident ensemble of Tango Sin Fin at Reed College, performs with the 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective, and has performed extensively with the Laurels String Quartet. Bassist Nick Gaudette, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, previously headed the music department at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and conducted the orchestras at Edina High School. He co-founded the touring Orange Mighty Trio and is an award-winning composer, with a 416 Club Commission from the Cedar Cultural Center and a Minnesota State Arts Board Artists Initiative grant. Bandoneonist and composer Charles Gorczynski directs the Twin Cities Tango Collective and has toured North America and Europe extensively, performing and recording with Redwood Tango Ensemble, Mariano Barreiro Tango Trio, Havana Quartet, Tango BC Quartet, Alejandro Ziegler Cuarteto, Maxi Larrea Trio, Maldito Tango, and Los Tangueros Del Oeste. As a featured soloist he has appeared with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Chorale, California Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Vocal Essence at Orchestra Hall, Mason Bates’ Mercury Soul Orchestra, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and many other orchestral and chamber music organizations. A Latin Grammy-nominated recording engineer, he has produced hundreds of albums.
